APM SERIES – THE SUCCESS SAGA

APM 2019, the 10th in the series, with the theme “Innovation in Polymeric Product Development and Manufacturing”, was organized by CIPET: School for Advanced Research in Polymers (SARP)-Advanced Research School for Technology and Product Simulation (ARSTPS), during January 22-23, 2019 at CIPET: Institute of Plastics Technology (IPT), Chennai. This conference focused on the emerging trends in the field of plastic product development and manufacturing. The conference was inaugurated by Prof. M. K.Surappa, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University, Chennai, along with Prof. (Dr.) S.K.Nayak, Director General, CIPET, and, Shri.D. Praveen, Director (DCPC), New Delhi. About 98 Universities/Institutions/R&D laboratories from both India and abroad have participated in the conference. This includes 12 international universities from South Korea, China, Singapore, UAE, Turkey, Malaysia, Denmark, Serbia, Thailand, Japan and South Africa. Eminent Scientists, Academicians and industrialist across the globe shared their rich research experiences during the conference. 202 Research papers in different topics of relevance were presented and deliberated during the conference which included a dedicated poster session.

APM 2018, , the 9th in the series of International Conference on Advancements in Polymeric Materials, was organized by Laboratory for Advanced Research in Polymeric Materials (LARPM), R&D wing of CIPET, at Bhubaneswar during 2-4, 2018. The International Conference APM2018 inaugurated by Rajeev Kapoor, Secretary, Department of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India, along with Prof. (Dr.) S.K.Nayak, Director General, CIPET, Shri S.Sugumar, Principal Director, CIPET Head office and Dr. Santhana Gopalakrishnan, Principal Director, CIPET Bhubaneswar. The conference highlighted the significance of unifying basic research and technology development, as the eminent speakers unveiled the plethora of emerging applications in the field of Polymer Science & Technology. The conference witnessed participation from 11 countries like Japan, South Africa, USA, New Zealand, France, Canada, Mexico, UK, South Korea and Belgium besides IITs, NITs, IISc and other National Laboratories in India. The mega event composed of 12 Plenary Lectures, 50 Invited Lectures and 215 Oral and Poster Presentations. The deliberations of the event emphasized the technical advancements in Nanotechnology, Recycling & Plastics Waste Management, Plastics in Sensors & Actuators, Biopolymers, Smart Materials, Energy Harvesting & Storage and Polymer Composites.

APM 2017 the 7th in the series of International Conference on Advancements in Polymeric Materials, Marching towards Smart Product with multi-functional materials was organized by Advanced Research School for Technology and Product Simulation (ARSTPS), R&D wing of CIPET during Feburary 11-13, 2017. The International Conference APM2017 inaugurated by Shri Ananthakumar Hon’ble Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers along with Shri Mansukh Mandaviya Hon’ble Minister of State, Road Transport & Highways, Shipping, Chemicals & Fertilizers, Shri Anuj Kumar Bishnoi, I.A.S Secretary to the Govt. of India, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals and President to CIPET Governing Council, Smt. Meenakshi Gupta, I.A.S., Additional Secretary & Financial Adviser, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Smt. Ranjana Kale, Economic Advisor, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Shri. Prannoy Sharma, Director (Petrochemical – II) Department of Chemical and Petrochemicals, Govt. of India & Prof. (Dr.) S.K.Nayak, Director General, CIPET. The inauguration was held at Jacaranda Hall, BIEC Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre, Bengaluru, and the technical session was happened in Centre for Scientific and Industrial Consultancy, IISc Bengaluru on 12th, 13th February 2017. There were 650 participants from Universities/Institutions/R&D laboratories around India and abroad were participated in this international conference. This includes 10 Universities from countries like Japan, United Kingdom, Russia, China, USA, Germany, Singapore and South Africa. Eminent scientists and Academicians across the globe would be sharing their rich research experiences during the conference APM - 2017. 250 Research papers in different topics of relevance would be presented and deliberated during the conference. The technical sessions consists of 10 plenary lectures, 12 Keynote, 59 invited lectures and 163 contributed oral and poster presentation. Stalls have also been arranged for an insight in to trends & technologies in polymer field and Additive manufacturing.

APM 2016 the 7th in the series of International Conference on Advancements in Polymeric Materials, marching towards technological advancements was organized during February 10-12, 2016 by Laboratory for Advanced Research in Polymeric Materials (LARPM), R&D wing of CIPET, at Bhubaneswar. The International Conference APM2016 inaugurated by Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Hon’ble Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India, on February 11, 2016 at 18.00 hours. Shri Saurabh Patel, Hon'ble Minister for Finance, Energy and Petrochemicals, Mines Minerals, Cottage Industries, Salt Industries, Printing and Stationery, Planning, Tourism, Civil Aviation, Government of Gujarat and Shri. G. R. Aloria, I. A. S., Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat will address the audience during the inauguration. Eminent professors, scientist, researches and industrialist from various 175 international & national Universities / Institutions / R&D laboratories are participating, which includes countries like USA, Germany, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, France, Switzerland, UAE, Japan, China, Turkey, & South Africa. 320 research papers in various topics of relevance would be presented and deliberated during the conference. Exclusive interactive sessions between Academia and industrialist have been organized to discuss current and future prospective growth of technology in the Polymer segments. Also this will encourage budding researchers to take up challenges in research for Make India, Skill India, Digital India and Start-up India concept of Government of India.

APM 2015 6th in the series, was organized by Advanced Research School for Technology and Product Simulation (ARSTPS) from February 22-24, 2015 at Bangalore. The conference broadly focused on “Marching towards Smart Product Design and Development with Multifunctional Materials”. The Conference was inaugurated by Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Hon’ble Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India at Bengaluru on Thursday, February 19, 2015. This event intended upon charting out the emerging trends in the field of polymer technology and its application. It also facilitated interaction between the growing needs of the Industries and continual research outcome from the Academia, as a common platform for greater interaction between worldwide polymer communities.

APM 2014 5th in the series, organized by Laboratory for Advanced Research in Polymeric Materials (LARPM), also illustrated similar picture in terms of participants, lectures and themes. International Conference on Advancements in Polymeric Materials – APM 2014, Trends & Technology was organized during February 10-12, 2014 by LARPM at Bhubaneswar and inaugurated by Shri Indrajit Pal, IAS, Secretary to the Govt. of India, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals. This event intended upon charting out the emerging trends in the field of polymer technology and its application. It also facilitated interaction between the growing needs of the Industries and continual research outcome from the Academia, as a common platform for greater interaction between worldwide polymer communities. Eminent scientists from USA, Korea, Japan, Sweden, Indonesia, Malaysia & Australia participated in the conference.

APM 2013 4th in the series, was organized by ARSTPS from March 01 – 03, 2013, at CIPET Lucknow. The conference broadly focused on “Innovation in Polymeric Materials and Product Development”. The conference was inaugurated by Shri Indrajit Pal, IAS, Secretary to Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India. This event intended upon charting out the emerging trends in the field of polymer technology and its application. It also facilitated interaction between the growing needs of the Industries and continual research outcome from the Academia, as a common platform for greater interaction between worldwide polymer communities.

APM 2012 organized by LARPM, also illustrated similar picture in terms of participants, lectures and themes. The 3rd in the series of International Conference on Advancements in Polymeric Materials – APM 2012, Trends & Technology was organized during Feburary 10-12, 2012 by LARPM at Ahmedabad and inaugurated by Shri Jose Cyriac, IAS, Secretary to the Govt. of India, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals. The Theme of the Conference emphasizes Interdisciplinary research on structure, properties, processing, morphology and application of polymers such as Nanomaterials & Nanocomposite, Blends & alloys, Polymer membranes, Hydrogels, Recycling technology, Biopolymers. Eminent scientists from USA, Korea, Japan, Sweden, Indonesia, Malaysia & Australia participated in the conference.

APM 2011 was successfully organized by ARSTPS at Chennai during March 25-27, 2011. The 2nd in the series of International Conference on Advancements in Polymeric Materials - APM 2012, Innovations in Materials & Product Development was organized during March 25-27, 2011 by Advanced Research School for Technology & Product Simulation (ARSTPS), R&D wing of CIPET, at Chennai and inaugurated by Shri M. Raman, IAS, Secretary to the Govt. of India, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals. The themes deliberated in the conference were Product Development, Nanocomposites, Bio-plastics, Synthesis, Blends and Alloys. Innovation and Customer Demands. Eminent scientists from USA, Canada, Germany, Mexico & Italy participated in the conference. Plenary lectures were presented by Eminent Speakers like Ing. Miguel Angel Vera Rivera (CIATEQ, Mexico), Ing. Tobius Tauber (Sigma Engineering, Germany), Prof. Amar Mohanty (University of Guelph, Canada), Mr. Fred Fischer (Stratasys, USA), Prof. N.Sivaprasad (IIT, Chennai), Prof. P L Nayak (PLN Foundation, Cuttack), Dr. B.S.R. Reddy (CLRI, Chennai), Prof. R. Dhamodharan (IIT, Chennai), Dr. T.S. Radhakrishnan (IGCAR, Kalpakkam).

APM 2010 was successfully organized by Laboratory for Advanced Research in Polymeric Material (LARPM) at Bhubaneswar during February 20-22, 2010. The conference was utilized to address the burning issues related to Green Economy, Role of plastics in saving Energy and Water resources, Nanomedicine, Biomaterials from biorefinery etc. A specific session was dedicated for exchange of views and technology to develop biobased polymeric materials. Eminent scientists like Mr. Steve Mojo, Prof. A K Mohanty, Prof. Manjusri Misra, Prof. Mohini Sain, enlightened the participants with innovative ideas and wide range of application of biopolymers. We had 35 invited/plenary lectures covering all aspects of emerging areas in polymer science & engineering. Scientists & industrialists from several countries, viz., USA, Mexico, Canada, Italy, France, Australia, Germany etc. shared their valuable experiences and research areas in the symposium.
